Children’s Dental Health Month is in full swing – and Truman Orthodontics is heading to an elementary school near you. 

February is typically associated with all things sweet. Thanks to Valentine’s Day, this means giving, receiving, and consuming sugary, sticky treats – and lots of it. The occasional candy bar is perfectly fine in moderation. But, too much of a yummy thing can wreak havoc on your teeth. This is especially the case when those pearly whites are not consistently cleaned and maintained. 

That’s why Truman Orthodontics visits primary schools throughout the Henderson area to teach kids good oral habits – with a fun, interactive twist.

Children’s Dental Health Month

All month long, industry professionals work diligently within their communities to provide educational resources promoting the importance of dental care. Truman Orthodontics accomplishes this goal through an interactive presentation that includes a live demonstration (with the help of some volunteers) and a Q&A. But why are we visiting primary schools? Because proper oral hygiene begins with positive habits that are established and encouraged during childhood. 

Cavities are a chronic childhood disease that, if left untreated, can cause a number of issues – from physical discomfort to missed school days. Not only does daily brushing and flossing keep the sugar bugs away and set kids up for proper oral care for life; it prepares them for their first orthodontic appointment. Along with the American Association of Orthodontists, Truman Orthodontics recommends that when kids reach age seven, it’s time to schedule their first screening.
